“This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.”—Ephesians 4:13

A minister, a Boy Scout, and a computer expert were the only passengers on a small plane. The pilot came back to the cabin to report that the plane was going down, but there were only three parachutes.

“I should have one, “ the pilot said,” because I have a wife and three small children.” He took one and jumped.

The computer genius said, “I should have one because I am the smartest man in the world.” He took one and jumped.

The minister turned to the Boy Scout and with a sad smile said, “You are young and I have lived a rich life, so you take the parachute, and I’ll go down with the plane.” The Boy Scout said, “Relax, Reverend. The smartest man in the world just picked up my backpack and jumped out.”

We can certainly be knowledgeable yet lack wisdom!

The Bible tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and that in the latter days knowledge will increase while men’s hearts grow cold toward the things of God.  Knowledge is exploding!  But not always used wisely.

True wisdom that will guide and enrich your life comes from God’s Word. The Apostle Paul said that if we want to be wise and “correctly handle the Word of truth,” we need to be like workmen who know God’s Word and apply it to their lives (2 Timothy 2:15, NIV). Then we can handle the truth!
