Happy New Year!
The word the Lord gave me for the year for 2018 is fire!
Consuming, purifying, cleansing, healing fire.
Fire that is here, now. Fire that is ready to burn into our lives as we are renewed and filled with the Holy Spirit.
Every year the Lord gives me a word for my personal life and ministry. It is a word that motivates, inspires, and reflects what God is doing in our lives; a word that imparts vision for the New Year.
This New Year is the year God wants us to be on fire for Him!
Read the vivid description of Isaiah’s call by fire and his total surrender:
“One of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth with it, and said:
‘Behold, this has touched your lips;
Your iniquity is taken away,
And your sin purged.’
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:
‘Whom shall I send,
And who will go for Us?’
Then I said, ‘Here am I! Send me.’” —Isaiah 6:6-8
Isaiah repented, was cleansed by holy fire and ready to go where the Lord sent him, ready to do His will.
At the Feast of Pentecost, after Jesus ascended into heaven with a promise of the Holy Spirit, Peter preached with a new boldness and passion as “tongues of fire” came upon each one of them and three thousand people were added to the new church.
Fire touched their hearts and their lips and set the church on fire.
I pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the church in this New Year.
When we are filled with the fire of the Holy Spirit, we will see lives changed, and hearts, minds, and bodies healed.
And our lips, touched by cleansing fire, will speak, glorifying and thanking God.
