“THE THIEF DOES NOT COME EXCEPT TO STEAL, AND TO KILL, AND TO DESTROY. I HAVE COME THAT THEY MAY HAVE LIFE, AND THAT THEY MAY HAVE IT MORE ABUNDANTLY.” — John 10:10
“Abundant life.”
It’s a phrase we’ve all heard. Preachers say it. Motivational speakers shout it. But how often do we pause and ask:
What does that really mean?
Jesus offers us a radical contrast.
He gives us a clear, life-defining choice.
You can follow Him, and receive a life that is rich, full, and overflowing.
Or you can walk with the thief—the enemy of your soul—who steals joy, kills peace, and destroys hope.
God puts the choice in our hands.
It’s the difference between:
- Faithfulness or emptiness
- Purpose or meaninglessness
- Life or death
- Heaven or hell
There’s a story of a Roman soldier who came to Julius Caesar, broken and miserable, asking for permission to take his own life. He was weary, defeated, and hopeless.
Caesar looked at the man and asked,
“Man, were you ever really alive?”
That question hits hard.
Because being alive isn’t just about breathing. It’s about truly living.
Paul wrote in Romans 8:11:
“He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.”
God doesn’t just want us to exist—He wants us to live.
To be filled with passion and purpose.
To walk in peace, confidence, and strength.
To experience an abundant life that is emotionally fulfilling, mentally alive, and spiritually empowered.
Long ago, God laid out the choice through Moses:
“This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.”
— Deuteronomy 30:19 (NIV)
Choose life.
Not just survival—but abundance in Christ.
Not just getting by—but thriving in His grace.
Not just holding on—but rising up in the power of the Spirit who lives in you.
You were made for more.
Jesus died so you could live fully.
So today, ask yourself:
Am I really alive?
