“He fills my life with good things, so that I stay young and strong like an eagle.“—Psalm 103:5
This year is a leap year; we are looking at February 29 on our calendars. An extra day to enjoy God’s blessings!
I have a tradition of saying to my church “Good is good.” The congregation responds, “All the time.”
All the time, God is good, we say.
God wants us to finish strong, to live in His goodness, to reflect on the blessings He has given us.
Even when life is hard and heartbreaking, we can find hope as He fills our lives with good things: the beauty of nature, the touch of a loved one, a child’s laughter, the smile of a stranger on a lonely day, the comfort of His Word and the simple knowledge that “Jesus loves me, this I know.”
Or we can be the good thing that happens to someone else.
Take this extra day to bless someone. A lonely neighbor or friend, a co-worker or boss. A spouse or child who needs an extra blessing. Perhaps you need to make peace with someone or mend a strained relationship.
The psalmist declared, “He fills my life with good things.” He wants us to believe that, enjoy it, and meditate on it:
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.“—Philippians 4:8, NIV
There are many small and large ways God fills our lives with good things so that we can stay strong and healthy. As we take time daily to count our blessings, we can also take time to give the Lord our worries and fears. Then, we can acknowledge His goodness and receive His promise of strength to carry on:
“Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run andnot grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” —Isaiah 40:31, NIV
